Digital Express International, Inc. (DXI) Accepts Award from New York State as 1998 Exporter of the YearNEW YORK, Nov. 2 -- The following was released today by Digital Express International, Inc.: The New York State Small Business Development Center has selected Digital Express International, Inc. as the "1998 Exporter of the Year". The award was presented to DXI during a luncheon ceremony sponsored by Citibank, Key Bank and M&T Bank at the Clarion Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York on October 30, 1998. DXI was nominated for the State-wide award after winning the preliminary competition within the New York City region. DXI was selected to receive the award over finalists from 22 other regions across New York State. DXI is a leading distributor of semiconductors, passives and electromechanical components to OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and CEMs (contract electronics manufacturers) in Europe and the Far-East. DXI has long-standing direct relationships with many component manufacturers and can often offer better pricing and faster deliveries than the local competition in each customers home country. DXI is currently serving customers in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, The UK, Malaysia, and Singapore. The Exporter of the Year award was presented to DXI based upon their success confronting the 1998 worldwide slowdown in the highly competitive electronics distribution industry, the so-called "Asian Crisis" and the recent uncertainty in the worlds financial markets. DXIs business strategy has resulted in increased sales when many larger competitors have seen reductions of 35-40% and more. In honor of the award, US Congressman John J. LaFalce requested that a United States flag be flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. The flag and a commemorative plaque were presented to DXI during the awards luncheon. Deborah J. Stillman and Mark Weiner accepted the award on behalf of DXI. ____________________ Contact: Digital Express International, Inc. (DXI) |
